Beasley is having some personal issues.   These issues may explain why Utah was so reluctant to trade Carlos Boozer for Beasley.

Tired of the Shaq Sideshow.

Monday, August 24th, 2009

This guy has seriously become more of a clown than a basketball player and I’m kind of getting tired of his antics.  Yeah they were entertaining at first but now they’re just rundown and tiresome.     If he gave half as much effort to staying in condition as he does to being a jackass he could extend his career another 4 or 5 seasons.   He may play 4 or 5 more years but not at an all-star level.

Since leaving LA Shaq has become nothing short of a gigantic assclown on and off the floor, that’s not to say he wasn’t an assclown before but now he seems to strive to be one where as before he just happened to be one; if that makes any sense to you.    The media loves him for this, and while it can be entertaining, if I wanted to watch drama on TNT I’d watch Law & Order or hell even Charmed at least than I get to see some boobies and not some gigantic flat manboobs like I get with Shaq.     I don’t really care about what he is doing either.  His twitter account seems to the topic of at least one segment a week on the radio, and I have to admit I have checked it out.  When I checked it out I thought for sure I would see a status of “eating for the 10th time today” or “playing with my lego’s”.

As a player I liked Shaquille O’Neal. He was a domiant force and one of te top 5 greatest centers to be the game, and I’m sure as a person he’s a great guy.  I’ve only met him once and he had no problem’s signing autographs and what not.   But his constant child like antics have really gotten under my skin recently.     Shaq has recently been involved in a war of words with former teammate Steve Nash over his realty show.  Nash claims Shaq stole the idea, Shaq claims Nash’s idea was different.  I really don’t care, I’m not going to watch the show.   But this incident is just another in a long line of spurned former teammates.   His teammates in Miami felt he let them down, there is the well publicized problems with Kobe Bryant and let’s not forget how he Carlos-Boozered the Orlando Magic to join the Lakers.

Shaq is like a 7-foot-one-inch 13-year-0ld; completely with tempertantrums and adolescent name calling.  Of course this is nothing new to fans of the LA Lakers; who for years had to put up with these antics.     Shaq believes at times that he is comedian and has said some off color remarks which would get most people into a heap of trouble in the media but he seems to be unphased by any criticism he does get and like an undisciplined child he keeps doing it.   I’m sure not many people remember Shaq’s comments about thinking about Yao Ming when he is taking a dump, or his rape about Kobe Bryant.    These are not actions of a 37  year old man, but the actions of someone in the tweens.   I would expect this behavior from Miley Cyrus, not from someone who is a 17 year NBA veteran.

As I was researching stuff for this piece I came across this website.  It’s a list of quotes by Shaq over the years.   The egomania of this man  unfathomable.

I really think it is time for Shaq to retire.  It’s obvious he is much more interested in off the court ventures than he is in playing the game of basketball and I think he is going to really hurt the Cavs this year.  He won’t be the guy they all think he is, rather he is going to be a colossal disappointment and partial because of him the Cavs will ultimately fail in the post-season.   Mark it down, Shaq will play less than 50 games this year and will be the most inept that we have ever seen him.

It’s Official The Suns Only Care About Money And Not Winning

Sunday, August 23rd, 2009

If you have read my previous article What Really Happened To The Suns, you would of understood that I mainly put the blame of Phoenix general manager Steve Kerr, which in some people’s eyes would be the answer. But it got me thinking, Would Kerr really do these moves his self, who is the mind behind the team, and it hit me.  Robert Sarver, Phoenix Suns owner.

Now before you go and ask why and are you crazy or stupid, but you gotta think inside the team, not the shell of Phoenix Suns, think what happens off the court. Thats where Robert Sarver comes in to the conclusion.

Being a Suns fan myself and this goes for others, it must be hard.
Four years ago, we were one of the most feared teams in the whole NBA, with out ‘Run N Gun’ style of play which in my opinion was fun to watch, Hitting 110 + points a game, and yes we let alot through, but we finished the seasons with 58+ wins and even one season with 62-20. A feat that wasnt managed since Barkley arrived.

Each year the suns would make the playoffs yet to crumble when the important games came.
Main rival was the Spurs who just kept losing when they faced with one another each year in the playoffs.
And every year Mr Sarver would say to the press, “Next year we will go one step further and win the championship despite the costs” and it never happened.

He didn’t really want to spend alot of money for the team.
He always use to sign horrible contracts such as Marcus Banks and Boris Diaw but wouldn’t budge for Joe Johnson, who now is a All-Star Shooting guard. It just didnt make no sense.

At this point a man named Steve Kerr was a appointed as Suns General Manager, and i think he was appointed to take the blame of the next bad choices of Mr Sarver made.

This is when we prove about Suns care about money. The Shaq trade.
But no this isnt what your thinking. In my opinion, the Shaq for Marion and Banks was a good trade. It brought some change and it made shaq a better player, but im talking about the other Shaq trade. The one for Wallace and Sasha and other extra’s. This shows he dont care about success at Phoenix, and only about the $$$.

The best thing that should of happened is Keep Shaq till the summer and we can take loss’s on the chin, but that would mean $20 Million off the books next summer and use it for our gain. But we got Wallace who had two years left, totaling $29 million. Sarver then bought out Wallace’s contract so that the money would be cleared of the team’s cap space.

Sarver made the move to save himself a few million dollars. That would have been acceptable had he actually spent the money on free agents. But he didnt.

Instead, Sarver added only one, Channing Frye, for a minimal cost. With all that money and players like Hedo Turkoglu, Paul Millsap, and Ron Artest, among others, Sarver opted for Channing Frye, dooming the team to a season of loss’s

Sarver has one more chance next summer if he gets a big time free agent next summer.
If he chooses to retain Amare Stoudemire if he chooses to extend, then Sarver will be known as the person who destroyed and ruined the Suns.

So who is to blame?
Robert Sarver (Owner)
Steve Kerr (GM)
The Team (Phoenix Suns)

Not much going on in the NBA, so I thought I’d bring you a picture from the WNBA.

Having advertisments on their jersey’s is flat out stupid.  I know the WNBA is a poor man’s, or rather poor woman’s, league like the MLS or MLL but still it just does not look right to see an American basketball jersey being a billboard like that.

A look at the 2009-10 NBA season.

Sunday, August 23rd, 2009

Hi all,

This being the first post on here I thought I’d just do a quick write up to see how things work.  Don’t expect anything too Earthshattering or insightful.  This is being written for the sole purpose of getting the blog going.

I am making my prediction now, yes I realize it’s August 22 and there is two months before the NBA regular season, but like I said this is being done to get the blog started.

Eastern Conference.

I see three teams in the east as the odds on favorites to be on top when the season draws to a close 9 months from now.

Boston is the team I see comming out a head, that is if Kevin Garnett can stay healthy.  A healthy KG and I expect Boston to win 60-65 games.

Orlando is the team I see as Boston’s biggest challenger.     They have the depth and they have a big man capible of containing KG.

Cleveland is the last of the top three eastern teams.   They are a one man show, unless you’re into clown show’s than Shaq also qualifies, and that is going to hurt them.  Shaq’s not going to help them very much and I expect them to regress from last year.  Their biggest weakness was the pick-and-roll and they did not address this in free agency.   They will still be good but will likely finish third in the east.

The bottom of the eastern playoff bracket is much more difficult to figure out.   Many of these teams have done some moves I am really not sure of.

I see the Atlanta Hawks once again taking the four seed in the east.  They have a solid team that is just middle of the pack and nothing else.

Detroit is the team I think will surprise a lot of people.   They have some solid players and I think getting rid of Allen Iverson is addition by subtraction.   Gordon and Villaneuva are going to make the Pistons a better team but not a great team.

Miami, if Wade stays healthy, will struggle somewhat but should make it in at about six.  Now if they somehow acquire Carlos Boozer or another big stay this will change but as of now they are right here.

I am not sold on the Chicago Bulls yet.  They have some pieces and will probably make the playoffs because of lack of competition, but there is something about them that to me at least makes them seemed destined to fail.

The last playoff spot will go to the Washington Wizard.  They could move up if Gilbert Arena’s stays healthy and can return to his former self.  But Agent Zero has had three major knee surgeries in the past 18 months and few if any players return to all-star form after that.

Indiana and Charlotte will just miss out of the playoffs and I expect them to be in contention until the last few weeks of the season.

Philadelphia may make a push but the loss of Andre Miller is going to hurt this team a lot.

Toronto made some moves, but they are still somewhat of a mess and unless Chris Bosh can prove he is a leader they wont be doing much.   Though this is the one lottery team in the east I am really unsure of.  If they can get things together they could be a 4th or 5th seed.

The bottom feeders in the east will be Milwaukee, New Jersey and New York.   Milwaukee and New Jersey have some pieces which may give them hope and may get them some additional wins.  But the Knicks are a mess.  if they cannot get Lee and Robinson back the Knicks could seriously win 15 games.

The west is a bigger mess than the east.  In the west there is one great team, followed by 5 really good teams, and 2 pretty good teams.

The Los Angeles Lakers are the great team in the west.  It’s not hard to see why.  They have the best player in the game, a top 2 all-time coach, are the defending NBA champions and they got better by adding Ron Artest.   Lakers will finish a top the west with about 65 wins.

The Spurs are the biggest threat the Lakers have in the west.  The Spurs have more championship experience and got better by adding Richard Jefferson.

I’m going to take some heat here, but I think the Utah Jazz are the third best team in the west.  Pending another late season collapse and another run of injuries they are one of the deepest teams in the NBA and have three all-star caliber players and a HOF coach.

Denver is close to Utah though, very close.   Denver is going to suffer a bit with the loss of Linas Klieza because they will not be able to spread out the floor much.  But I expect them to still be a top seed in the west.

Portland is another team not to take lightly.   They have a lot of youth and added a veteran point guard.     I actually expect the difference between Utah, Denver, and Portland will come down to a sprained ankle or wrist in November, it will be that close.

New Orleans is going to be around as well.  I like to Okafor trade for them.  Chandler was hurt and they got a guy who can do what he did and much more.  I did not like the Butler trade as is hurts their already poor depth.

Dallas will be the 7th seed in the west.  They made some moves but Nowitizki is getting older and will not be able to carry the team.   Signing Kidd like they did is mind boggling as well.  He was below average last year and has been regressing for years and they expect him to play at a high level in a conference with Steve Nash, Tony Parker, Chris Paul, Chauncy Billups and Deron Williams.  Sorry to say Mav’s fans, but that isn’t happening.

The final playoff spot goes to the Phoenix Suns.   Amare and Nash will make them a 50 win team but don’t expect much more than that from them.

Golden State and the Los Angeles Clippers will make pushes for the post season, but neither has the depth to get it done.

Oklahoma City and Memphis will surprise a lot of people this year.  I don’t expect either to have a winning record but they could be hanging around the 8th seed as late as the All-star break.

Minnesota is still a few pieces short and wont do much at all.

Sacramento and Houston round out the west.   The Kings have some interesting pieced but they’re young and not expecting much.  The Rockets will be terrible without Yao Ming or T-mac.

My awards predictions:

MVP- Kobe Bryant

MIP- Charlie Villenueva

ROTY- Blake Griffin

6th Man- Lamar Odom

COTY- Stan Van Gundy.

I know I said this would be a quick write up, and it ended up being close to 1,200 words but I hope you enjoyed.
